Harriet's unique background as a domestic violence survivor and former undocumented immigrant allows her to passionately advocate for an end to violence against women and children.

In 2016, Harriet took her advocacy to  new heights and chartered The Exodus Foundation, a Michigan-based non-profit organization. As Executive Director of Exodus, Harriet champions the cause of ending violence against women and children across the nation.

In September 2017, The Exodus Foundation opened The Exodus Foundation Women's Shelter,

a place for survivors of human and sex trafficking to receive housing, job skills training, and mental health support as they work through the healing process.

The Exodus Foundation Women's Shelter is the first, and as of today, only, shelter for trafficking victims located in Michigan.
